Why I Use (and Recommend) CeraVe PM Facial Moisturising Lotion During the Day
Most people think “PM” means night-time only — but when it comes to CeraVe PM Facial Moisturising Lotion, I’ve found it to be the perfect daytime moisturiser, especially for mature, dry skin like mine. Here’s why I use it every morning under SPF.
1. Lightweight, Hydrating and Non-Greasy
CeraVe PM gives you the ideal amount of hydration without feeling heavy or sticky. It contains hyaluronic acid to lock in moisture and three essential ceramides to protect your skin barrier — which is especially important for mature or post-menopausal skin. It leaves my skin soft, smooth, and perfectly prepped for SPF and makeup.
2. Why I Avoid the AM Version
Although CeraVe does make an AM moisturiser with built-in SPF, I personally don’t use it. It leaves a noticeable white cast, which isn’t flattering — especially on deeper or olive-toned skin like mine. It also doesn’t layer well under makeup, and I find the texture slightly chalky.
3. Perfect Under Your Favourite SPF
By using the PM version as a base moisturiser, I get all the hydration and barrier support I need, without interference. I then apply my chosen broadspectrum SPF (like La Roche-Posay Anthelios UVMune 400) ( Beautypie SPF 50) over the top — no pilling, no greasiness, and no white cast. Just healthy, balanced skin.
4. Great for Sensitive and Mature Skin
It’s fragrance-free, non-comedogenic, and formulated with dermatologists — which means it won’t clog pores, trigger irritation, or clash with active serums. I’ve found it incredibly calming, especially on days when my skin feels dry, tight, or a little reactive.

ust because it says PM doesn’t mean it can’t be your go-to in the morning. I trust this moisturiser every day — underneath my SPF and makeup — because it simply does the job, beautifully.
